Best vet in pittsburgh!
I have used met vet for years and have nothing but nice things to say. They saved my dogs life! The ladies at the desk were wonderful and the doctor was amazing! So where you will see comments from people that could not afford to pay for their sick pets, no vet in pittsburgh does billing!! Quite frankly if you cant afford to care for a pet then you should not have one! If you do you may have to look into care form the humane society because they have funding where vets do not. Before you bash a place you should get your facts straight. My dog jake is here today because of met vet and I could not be any happier!

Refused service
This company is only out for the money. They do not wat to see or care for your pet if you do not have the money to pay up front.. My dog was was very ill and they did not want to see her because I asked if I could pay the bill in payments. They told me to go to another vet and they would fax her records.
Makes you wonder how many animals they have sent away without treatment because owners could not pay the entire amount due for treatment. They actualy tell you upfront what the cost will be and tell you to pay before they will treat your pet. Shame Shame Shame.

Great Vet...poor support staff.
Let me start by explaining that my dog was treated very well by the vet technician and the vet herself while at the office. The Vet requested that further tests be done to help with her diagnosis. This is where the service took a turn for the worse. After not hearing anything from the vet for a couple of days I began calling the office to get our results. My first call was at 11 a.m., my second call was at 6:30 p.m. and my final call was at 10 p.m. The first time I called the receptionist said the results were in and the doctor would call me after her "emergency surgery". The second call the receptionist first said the results were not in, I had to tell her I was already told the results were there. She then responded with "Oh yeah, they're here. The doctor is in an emergency surgeryshe'll call you shortly." The final time I called the receptionist seemed very irritated and said "the doctor is in emergency surgery, she only calls with test results after 11 p.m.!" The doctor did call me after 11 p.m. and said "the receptionists never made note on the file of any calls." I was very thankful for the help of the doctors, but good luck getting through the receptionists if you need anything.

Caring, kind and compassionate
We began taking our dog Lady to Met Vet west back in 2006. She had an emergency and even though we had never been to the office before they told us to come right in. They treated Lady and us as though she had been a patient there since she was a puppy. They got her back to health and we continuued to take her there for everything she needed. We had the opportunity to deal with several of the doctors and staff memebers in our visits and everyone was kind, gentle and caring. Unfortunately we had to take Lady there one last time when she became so ill that we had to make one of the hardest decisions ever. We called ahead and they had a special room already for us and told us all what to expect. Then they gave us some time to be with her before the procedure. During the procedure the doctor spoke to Lady softly and was very compassionate to her and to the rest of us. Once Lady was gone, they again gave us some time and then took her and wrapped her and placed her in a box for us to take home. We declined the option of cremation. We wanted Lady in the yard where she loved to play and lay in the sun.

I recommend Met Vet West for all you pet needs. And if you ever need to make that terrible decision that we did--you wouldn't find a better place to do it

Great Place!! by A W. at InsiderPages
I brought my cat here for an emergency appointment on a holiday. The staff was very knowledgeable and compassionate. The doctor explained things to me in a way that made even the most complicated things easy to understand. I had certain financial concerns but I wanted to have the necessary procedures done. They were able to work within my budget in order to give my cat the best care possible. My cat had to stay for several nights and there was always someone with him. I also got daily updates from the doctor. I have transfered all my pets here because I know that my pets life has in the past, and may once again, be in their hands. I have full confidence in them. I am willing to pay the extra dollar or two because I know that that dollar is going towards having the best staff and equipment possible. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a vet, with the confidence that they would not be disappointed. The doctors and staff are of the highest caliber, and they actually care about their patients. I have never come across a group of people who were more dedicated.

PROS: Everything!! I have no complaints at all.

Care is good, cost is twice as much as others in area. by Erika F. at InsiderPages
Although the care is good here, they always present you with the high priced option first, and if you balk, they tell you your alternatives. Be careful.

PROS: Good care
CONS: Price - really seems like a racket.

Experienced staff, Open 24-hrs, High tech care by Holly F. at InsiderPages
Before I moved to FL, I had taken my dog here for quite a while. I was always satisfied with the quality of care he received, preventative and surgical. I felt the vets & techs there really knew their stuff. They are also open 24 hrs for emergencies which is reassuring. I would highly recommend them, although some may feel their prices are a little high, however I would rather pay more and know my baby is well taken care of.

PROS: Knowledgeable staff, hi-tech equipment, open 24 hrs
CONS: Somewhat pricey
